Lord Agni (narrating the ritual procedure to the sage Vasiṣṭha, as per the common Agni Purāṇa dialogue frame)
Vidya Category: {"primary_vidya":"Tantra","secondary_vidya":"Mantra","practical_application":"External homa/puja setup: arranging pallavas, implements, seed-syllables, pañcadravya/ratna offerings, lotus-mandala for Agni, and charging the rite with prāṇāyāma (pūraka) to ‘complete’ the invoked form.","sutra_style":true}
Encyclopedic Reference: {"reference_type":"Procedure","entry_title":"Homa-nyāsa with Agni-padma, ratnādi-pañcaka, and prāṇāyāma-sakalīkaraṇa","lookup_keywords":["homa-nyasa","vahni-padma","ratnadi-pancaka","pallava-vinyasa","puraka"],"quick_summary":"Prescribes a stepwise vinyāsa for homa: ritual greenery and implements, bīja with praṇava, pañcadravya/ratna offerings with madhu-kṣīra, fragrant upacāras, Agni-lotus layout, barley in fire-pits, and inner consolidation via pūraka."}
Concept: Sakalīkaraṇa: completing the invoked form by uniting external upacāra with internal prāṇa (pūraka).
Application: Use breath-regulation to stabilize visualization and mantra-nyāsa so the ritual ‘body’ becomes coherent and effective.

Sandhi Resolution Notes: Resolved: pallavānāñca→pallavānām+ca; kṛtyañca→kṛtyam+ca; bodhayecchambhau (in next verse) similar sandhi type. Several letter-names (ga, ṅa, cha, jha, kha, ja) occur as mantra-syllables; treated as nominal items.
Related Themes: Agni Purāṇa puja-vidhi sections on nyāsa, maṇḍala-vinyāsa, homa-dravya lists, kuṇḍa-lakṣaṇa
It teaches a homa/pujā setup procedure: vinyāsa (ritual placement) of sprouts and implements, mantra-nyāsa with Oṃ and a bīja/letter, installation of offerings (honey, milk, and a five-gem set), fumigation with incense and flowers, lotus-maṇḍala placement for Agni, and placing barley in the fire-pits, with completion aided by prāṇāyāma (pūraka).
It exemplifies the Agni Purāṇa’s manual-like coverage of applied ritual technology—materials, spatial arrangement (maṇḍala/lotus), mantra-nyāsa, and even breath-control integration—showing how the text functions as a practical compendium beyond narrative mythology.
Correct vinyāsa and consecration (fragrance, incense, mantra-nyāsa) are treated as purifying acts that stabilize the rite, make the offering fit for Agni, and are believed to enhance the efficacy (siddhi) and merit (puṇya) of the homa by aligning body, breath, and mantra.
