FAQs

It gives muhurta-nirṇaya guidance for weddings: avoid the 6th tithi when it coincides with Friday, and perform the marriage under an appropriate/approved nakṣatra; the 4th tithi is also flagged for similar caution.

By preserving practical Jyotiṣa-based scheduling rules (tithi–vāra–nakṣatra filters) for samskāras like marriage, it shows the Agni Purana functioning as a handbook of applied ritual science alongside its other subjects.

Choosing an auspicious muhurta is presented as protecting the rite’s sanctity and expected fruits—marital stability, prosperity, and reduced ritual obstacles—while inauspicious combinations are avoided to prevent doṣa (adverse outcomes).
