Concept: Adhikāra and circumstance determine correct ritual medium (Agni vs symbolic receptacle); mantra and purity substitute where full śrauta apparatus is absent.
Application: For those without maintained fires, perform śrāddha offerings via pitṛ-hasta with pavitra and correct mantras rather than attempting improper homa.

It gives a procedural rule: a sāgnika offers oblations into the fire, while an anagnika performs the offering into the pitṛ-hasta using a pavitra (kuśa ring), always accompanied by the prescribed mantras.
It preserves a practical contingency in ritual law—how to perform ancestor-related offerings both for those who maintain household fires and for those who do not—showing the text’s coverage of detailed, situation-based ritual protocols.
By ensuring the offering is made in an authorized manner (with permission, correct medium, and mantras), the rite is considered ritually valid—supporting ancestral satisfaction (pitṛ-tṛpti) and the performer’s purification and merit.
