FAQs

It prescribes a śrāddha step: after ritual bathing (snāna), the performer should bow to Viṣṇu as Janārdana and utter a dedicatory formula while offering the piṇḍa (rice-ball oblation).

It exemplifies the Agni Purana’s procedural cataloging of rites—detailing not only doctrine but exact liturgical actions (snāna, namaskāra, and piṇḍa-dāna wording) within its wide-ranging compendium.

The verse links purification (snāna) with pāpa-kṣaya (removal of sin) and frames the offering as surrendered to Viṣṇu, emphasizing devotional dedication and merit in ancestor rites.
