Sandhi Resolution Notes: tatkūrpayūpayormadhye → tat kūrpa-yūpayoḥ madhye; mahābodhaturuṃ → mahābodha-taruṃ; svargalokabhāk → svarga-loka-bhāk. The initial manuscript notes (deva iti…, nārāyaṇam iti…, etc.) are editorial variants and not part of the main syntactic verse analyzed here.
Related Themes: Agni Purana 115 (Śrāddha-vidhi / Tīrtha-māhātmya sequence)
It specifies a śrāddha performance at a precise sacred locus—‘between Kūrpa and Yūpa’—and indicates accompanying invocations (e.g., Nārāyaṇa), emphasizing correct place-linked procedure for piṇḍa and śrāddha offerings.
It integrates mantra-variants across recensions, tīrtha-topography (Brahma-tīrtha, Mataṅgeśa, Siddheśa), and ritual phala-śruti (measurable merit), showing the text’s catalog-like coverage of rites, sacred geography, and results.
The verse promises major ancestral benefit—uplifting ‘a hundred generations’—and personal merit culminating in Svarga, framing śrāddha and reverence to sacred sites (like the Mahābodhi tree) as powerful purificatory and merit-generating acts.
