FAQs

It conveys Dhanurveda-oriented battlefield knowledge: the use of astras (missile weapons) across the fourfold army and the idea of yuddha-mārga—proper methods and rules of fighting demonstrated by an ideal warrior.

Alongside ritual and theology, the Agni Purana preserves practical disciplines like military science—describing troop categories, weapon-deployment, and normative war-conduct—showing its wide, encyclopedic scope.

By highlighting yuddha-mārga and Bhīṣma’s exemplary conduct, it frames warfare as dharma-bound action: disciplined combat aligned with duty reduces adharmic violence and its negative karmic consequences.
