पौंड्रको वासुदेवस्तु वाराणस्यां पुराऽभवत् । तेन श्रुतं पुराणं तु पठ्यमानं द्विजातिभिः
pauṃḍrako vāsudevastu vārāṇasyāṃ purā'bhavat | tena śrutaṃ purāṇaṃ tu paṭhyamānaṃ dvijātibhiḥ
పూర్వకాలంలో పౌండ్రక వాసుదేవుడు వారాణసీలో నివసించేవాడు। అక్కడ ద్విజులు పఠిస్తున్న పురాణాన్ని అతడు శ్రవణం చేశాడు।
