कृष्णपक्षे चतुर्दश्यां स्नात्वा यस्तर्पयेत्पितॄन् । तर्पिताः पितरस्तेन यावच्चन्द्रार्कतारकम्
kṛṣṇapakṣe caturdaśyāṃ snātvā yastarpayetpitṝn | tarpitāḥ pitarastena yāvaccandrārkatārakam
కృష్ణపక్ష చతుర్దశినాడు స్నానం చేసి పితృదేవతలకు తర్పణం చేయువాడు—అతని చేత తృప్తి పొందిన పితరులు చంద్ర-సూర్య-తారలు ఉన్నంతకాలం తృప్తిగా ఉంటారు।
