द्वितीयमासस्यादौ तु प्रतिपद्या प्रकीर्तिता । वाराहेणोद्धृता तस्यां तथा चादौ धरा प्रिये । तेन वाराहकल्पेति नाम जातं धरातले

Transliteration

dvitīyamāsasyādau tu pratipadyā prakīrtitā | vārāheṇoddhṛtā tasyāṃ tathā cādau dharā priye | tena vārāhakalpeti nāma jātaṃ dharātale

Translation

రెండవ మాస ఆరంభమున ‘ప్రతిపద’ ప్రసిద్ధి; ఆ రోజునే, హే ప్రియే, ఆదిలో వారాహుడు భూమిని పైకి ఎత్తి రక్షించాడు. అందువల్ల భూతలమున దానికి ‘వారాహకల్ప’ అనే నామము ఏర్పడింది.
