श्रीमार्कण्डेय उवाच । कथयामि नृपश्रेष्ठ आनन्देश्वरमुत्तमम् । दानवानां वधं कृत्वा देवदेवो महेश्वरः
śrīmārkaṇḍeya uvāca | kathayāmi nṛpaśreṣṭha ānandeśvaramuttamam | dānavānāṃ vadhaṃ kṛtvā devadevo maheśvaraḥ
శ్రీమార్కండేయుడు పలికెను—ఓ నృపశ్రేష్ఠా, ఉత్తమమైన ఆనందేశ్వరుని వృత్తాంతాన్ని నేను చెప్తాను. దానవులను సంహరించి దేవదేవుడైన మహేశ్వరుడు (ఈ మహిమను ప్రదర్శించాడు).
