ऋक्षशृङ्ग उवाच । पृच्छामि त्वां कथं को वा कुतस्त्वमिह चागतः । ब्रह्मक्षत्रविशां मध्ये को भवानुत शूद्रजः
ṛkṣaśṛṅga uvāca | pṛcchāmi tvāṃ kathaṃ ko vā kutastvamiha cāgataḥ | brahmakṣatraviśāṃ madhye ko bhavānuta śūdrajaḥ
ఋక్షశృంగుడు పలికెను: 'నేను నిన్ను అడుగుచున్నాను—నీవు ఎవడవు? ఎచటి నుండి, ఎట్లు ఇచటకు వచ్చితివి? బ్రాహ్మణ, క్షత్రియ, వైశ్యులలో నీవు ఎవడవు? లేక శూద్రుడవా?'
