श्रीमार्कण्डेय उवाच । एतदाख्यानमतुलं पुण्यं श्रुतिमुखावहम् । पुराणे यच्छ्रुतं तात तत्ते वक्ष्याम्यशेषतः
śrīmārkaṇḍeya uvāca | etadākhyānamatulaṃ puṇyaṃ śrutimukhāvaham | purāṇe yacchrutaṃ tāta tatte vakṣyāmyaśeṣataḥ
శ్రీ మార్కండేయుడు పలికెను—ఇది అతులమైన పుణ్యకథ, శ్రవణమాత్రంతో మంగళప్రదము. హే తాత! పురాణాలలో నేను విన్నదంతా నీకు ఏమీ విడిచిపెట్టకుండా పూర్తిగా చెప్పుదును.
