brahmaghnaśca surāpī ca steyī ca gurutalpagaḥ | narmadācaritaṃ śṛṇvaṃstāmabdaṃ yo'bhiṣevate

బ్రాహ్మణహంతకుడు, సురాపానుడు, దొంగ లేదా గురుశయ్యా-అపరాధి అయినవాడైనా—నర్మదా-చరిత్రాన్ని శ్రవణం చేస్తూ ఆ వ్రతాన్ని ఒక సంవత్సరం ఆచరించువాడు—
