Suta Goswami (narrative colophon conclusion to the sages of Naimisharanya)
Jyotirlinga: Vaidyanātha
Sthala Purana: Colophon formally seals the chapter as the Vaidyanātheśvara Jyotirliṅga-māhātmya, marking the narrative unit as a kṣetra-glorification intended for śravaṇa, kīrtana, and pilgrimage inspiration.
Significance: Hearing/reciting the māhātmya is treated as a meritorious act supporting pilgrimage, vow-taking, and temple worship centered on the Jyotirliṅga.
This is the chapter-colophon marking completion of the Vaidyanātheśvara Jyotirliṅga Māhātmya, emphasizing that the Koṭirudra Saṃhitā preserves the sacred authority and devotional focus of Jyotirliṅga worship as a means toward Śiva’s grace and liberation.
By naming “Jyotirliṅga,” it points to Śiva’s Saguna accessibility through a consecrated emblem that is also “jyotis” (divine light), bridging form-based devotion with contemplation of Śiva as the supreme luminous reality.
As a māhātmya-conclusion, it implicitly supports Jyotirliṅga darśana, abhiṣeka, and japa of the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) with steady bhakti, especially during observances like Mahāśivarātri.
