उताहं नक्तमुत सोम ते दिवा सख्याय बभ्र ऊधनि । घृणा तपन्तमति सूर्यं परः शकुना इव पप्तिम ॥

utā́haṃ náktam utá sóma te divā́ sakhyā́ya babhro ū́dhani | ghṛṇā́ tápantam áti sū́ryaṃ paráḥ śakunā́ iva paptimá ||

మరియు నేను, ఓ సోమా, రాత్రీ పగలూ, నీ సఖ్యార్థం ఆ ధూసర ఆధారంపై నిలుస్తాను; అయినా వేడితో మండే సూర్యునికీ అవతల—దాని పైన—పక్షుల దూర పయనంలా ఎగిరిపోవాలని కోరుకుంటాను.
