द्वा सुपर्णा सयुजा सखाया समानं वृक्षं परि षस्वजाते । तयोरन्यः पिप्पलं स्वाद्वत्त्यनश्नन्नन्यो अभि चाकशीति ॥
dvā́ suparṇā́ sayújā sakhā́yā samānáṃ vṛkṣáṃ pári ṣasvajāte | táyor anyáḥ píppalaṃ svā́dv átti ánaśnann anyó abhí cā́kaśīti ||
ఇద్దరు సుపర్ణులు—యుగ్మంగా బద్ధులై, సఖులై—అదే ఒకే వృక్షాన్ని చుట్టూ ఆలింగనం చేసుకుంటారు. వారిలో ఒకడు మధురమైన పిప్పల ఫలాన్ని ఆస్వాదిస్తాడు; మరొకడు తినకుండా, కేవలం ప్రకాశమయమైన చైతన్యంతో చూస్తూ ఉంటాడు.
