सपत्न्या तु गरस्तस्यै दत्तो गर्भजिघांसया।गरेण सह तेनैव जात स्स सगरोऽभवत्।।।।
sapatnyā tu garas tasyai datto garbha-jighāṁsayā |
gareṇa saha tenaiva jātaḥ sa sagaro ’bhavat ||
కానీ ఆమె సహపత్నీ గర్భాన్ని నశింపజేయాలనే ఉద్దేశంతో ఆమెకు ‘గర’ (విషం) ఇచ్చింది. ఆ గరంతోనే కలిసి జన్మించినందున ఆ శిశువు ‘సగరుడు’ అని ప్రసిద్ధి పొందాడు॥
