The Narration of the Trayodaśī Vow Observed Throughout the Twelve Months
pratimāsaṃ tataḥ paścāttrayodaśyāṃ site dale | evameva vrataṃ kāryaṃ varṣāṃte gāmalaṃkṛtām || 17 ||
Narada
Vrata: Kāmadeva-vrata (monthly continuation)
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: bhakti
It teaches disciplined continuity in vrata-practice—observing the vow monthly on a specific tithi—and concludes with dāna (gift-giving), indicating that devotion and self-restraint should mature into generosity.
By prescribing a regular sacred observance tied to the lunar calendar and ending with an offering (adorned cow), it frames bhakti as steady practice (niyama) combined with charitable dedication of one’s merit.
The verse uses calendrical ritual timing—Trayodaśī in the bright fortnight—reflecting Jyotiṣa-style tithi reckoning applied to dharma and vrata performance.
