उनके ऐसा कहनेपर श्रीरामचन्द्रजीने कहा--“भगवन्‌! आपको इस तरह आक्षेप नहीं करना चाहिये ।। नाहमप्यधमो धर्मे क्षत्रियाणां द्विजातिषु । इक्ष्वाकूणां विशेषेण बाहुवीर्यें न कत्थनम्‌,“मैं भी समस्त द्विजातियोंमें क्षत्रियरर्मका पालन करनेमें अधम नहीं हूँ। विशेषतः इक्ष्वाकुवंशी क्षत्रिय अपने बाहुबलकी प्रशंसा नहीं करते”

nāham apy adhamaḥ dharme kṣatriyāṇāṁ dvijātiṣu | ikṣvākūṇāṁ viśeṣeṇa bāhuvīrye na katthanam ||

అలా అన్నపుడు శ్రీరామచంద్రుడు పలికెను—“భగవన్! ఈ విధంగా ఆక్షేపించడం మీకు తగదు. ద్విజులలో క్షత్రియధర్మాన్ని ఆచరించడంలో నేనూ అధముడను కాను. ముఖ్యంగా ఇక్ష్వాకువంశ క్షత్రియులు తమ బాహుబలాన్ని గొప్పగా చెప్పుకొనరు.”
