विष्णु: स्वेन शरीरेण रावणस्य वधाय वै | पश्यामस्तमयोध्यायां जातं दाशरथिं तत:,लोमशजीने कहा--राजेन्द्र! तुम दशरथनन्दन श्रीराम तथा परम बुद्धिमान्‌ भृगुनन्दन परशुरामजीका चरित्र सुनो। पूर्वकालमें महात्मा राजा दशरथके यहाँ साक्षात्‌ भगवान्‌ विष्णु अपने ही सच्चिदानन्दमय विग्रहसे श्रीरामरूपमें अवतीर्ण हुए थे। उनके अवतारका उद्देश्य था--पापी रावणका विनाश। अयोध्यामें प्रकट हुए दशरथनन्दन श्रीरामका हम लोग प्राय: दर्शन करते रहते थे

viṣṇuḥ svena śarīreṇa rāvaṇasya vadhāya vai | paśyāmas tam ayodhyāyāṃ jātaṃ dāśarathiṃ tataḥ ||

“రావణవధార్థం విష్ణువు స్వయంగా తన దేహాన్ని ధరించి అవతరించాడు; అయోధ్యలో జన్మించిన ఆ దాశరథి రాముని మేము పదేపదే దర్శించేవాళ్లం.”
