तदर्थ पादशेषं वा वित्तशाव्यविवर्जितम्‌ । यद्‌ यदेवात्मनो<भीष्टं तत्‌ तद्‌ देयं द्विजातये

Transliteration

tadarthaṃ pādaśeṣaṃ vā vittāśāvyavivarjitam | yad yad evātmano 'bhīṣṭaṃ tat tad deyaṃ dvijātaye ||

Translation

పూర్తి పరిమాణం ఇవ్వలేకపోతే మిగిలిన భాగమైనా సమర్పించాలి—ధనం ఉండి కూడా కృపణత్వం కలగనీయకూడదు. తనకు ఏ ఏ వస్తువులు ప్రియమో, అవే అవే ద్విజునికి (బ్రాహ్మణునికి) దానంగా ఇవ్వాలి.
