कर्मणा बाध्यते रूपं कर्मणा चोपलभ्यते । कर्मणा नीयते<न्यत्र स्वकृतेन बलीयसा,कर्मके द्वारा ही इस देहका बाध होता है; कर्मसे ही अन्य देहकी उपलब्धि होती है तथा अपने किये हुए प्रबल कर्मके द्वारा ही वह अन्य शरीरमें ले जाया जाता है

karmaṇā bādhyate rūpaṃ karmaṇā copalabhyate | karmaṇā nīyate 'nyatra svakṛtena balīyasā ||

భీష్ముడు అన్నాడు—కర్మచేతనే దేహరూపం నియంత్రింపబడి రూపుదిద్దుకుంటుంది; కర్మచేతనే మరొక దేహం లభిస్తుంది. తనే చేసిన బలమైన కర్మఫలబలంతో జీవుడు ఇతరత్రా—ఆ ఇతర దేహంలోకి—నడిపింపబడతాడు।
