Educational Q&A

The verse underscores the inevitability of decline even for mighty dynasties: having witnessed earlier royal annihilations and now the Yadu destruction, the narrator highlights impermanence and the moral weight of history—power and lineage do not exempt one from the consequences of time and deeds.

Vaiśampāyana laments that he has seen the Yadus perish, just as he once saw the great Kuru-era kings fall. In the present moment, the absence of the Yādava heroes makes their city feel unbearable to behold, emphasizing the emptiness left after the clan’s end.
