Educational Q&A

The verse highlights a warrior-leader’s duty in battle: after demonstrating prowess, he must steady and motivate his forces through commanding speech—linking personal valor with responsibility toward one’s army (a facet of kṣatriya-dharma).

Sañjaya reports that Karna has shaken the Pāṇḍava side in the fighting and is now turning to address the entire Kaurava host, preparing them with words of encouragement and direction for the continuing combat.
