पात्रलक्षण-परिक्षा (Pātra-Lakṣaṇa Parīkṣā) — Criteria for a Worthy Recipient

आगतानागते चोभे ब्राह्मणो द्विपदं वर: । ब्राह्मणो भरतश्रेष्ठ स्वरधर्म चैव वेद यः:

āgatānāgate cobhe brāhmaṇo dvipadaṃ varaḥ | brāhmaṇo bharataśreṣṭha svadharmaṃ caiva veda yaḥ ||

భీష్ముడు పలికెను—బ్రాహ్మణుడు ద్విపదులలో శ్రేష్ఠుడు; ఎందుకంటే గతమును మరియు అనాగతమును—రెండింటినీ అతడు ఎరుగును. ఓ భరతశ్రేష్ఠా, తన స్వధర్మాన్ని యథార్థంగా తెలిసి దానినే ఆచరించువాడే నిజమైన బ్రాహ్మణుడు.
