The verse highlights dharmic etiquette: approaching a sage with humility, recognizing the authority of the guru and the community of disciples, and seeking permission/announcement before an audience—reflecting reverence for spiritual learning and disciplined spaces like the āśrama.
Bhishma arrives at a hermitage associated with the sage Bhrigu and calls out to those present, asking which of them are Bhrigu’s disciples. He states his wish to see the sage and requests that they convey news of his arrival to him.
