Ādi-parva Adhyāya 3 — Janamejaya’s Rite, Dhaumya’s Parīkṣā, and Uttanka’s Kuṇḍala Quest (सर्पसत्रप्रस्तावना–गुरुपरीक्षा–उत्तङ्कोपाख्यान)
गच्छास्य ब्राह्मणस्य साहाय्यं कुरुष्वेति । अथ वज्ं दण्डकाष्ठमनुप्रविश्य तद् बिलमदारयत्,उन्होंने वज़से कहा--“जाओ, इस ब्राह्मणकी सहायता करो।” तब वज्ने डंडेकी लकड़ीमें प्रवेश करके उस बिलको विदीर्ण कर दिया (इससे पाताललोकमें जानेके लिये मार्ग बन गया)

ఇంద్రుడు వజ్రంతో—“వెళ్ళి ఈ బ్రాహ్మణునికి సహాయం చేయి” అని అన్నాడు. అప్పుడు వజ్రం దండకాష్ఠంలో ప్రవేశించి ఆ బిలాన్ని చీల్చివేసింది.
