तेन नादेन रौद्रेण नादेन च विभावसो:,कृष्णमशभ्युद्यतास्त्रं च नादं मुमुचुरुल्बणम् | उन्होंने उस जलते हुए वनको और मारनेके लिये अस्त्र उठाये हुए श्रीकृष्ण तथा अर्जुनको देखा। उत्पात और आर्तनादके शब्दसे उस वनमें खड़े हुए वे सभी प्राणी संत्रस्त- से हो उठे थे। उस वनको अनेक प्रकारसे दग्ध होते देख और अस्त्र उठाये हुए श्रीकृष्णपर दृष्टि डाल भयानक आर्तनाद करने लगे
tena nādena raudreṇa nādena ca vibhāvasoḥ, kṛṣṇam abhyudyatāstraṃ ca nādaṃ mumucur ulbaṇam |
వైశంపాయనుడు పలికెను—ఆ రౌద్రమైన కోలాహలం, మండుచున్న అగ్నியின் చిటచిటలాడే గర్జన విని అరణ్యజీవులు భీతులయ్యారు. అరణ్యం అనేక విధాలుగా దగ్ధమవుతుండగా, వధించుటకు ఆయుధం ఎత్తిన శ్రీకృష్ణుని మరియు అర్జునుని చూచి, అపశకునాల భయంతో వారు అందరూ కలవరపడి, దావానల మధ్య ఘోరమైన, ఉల్బణమైన ఆర్తనాదాన్ని విడిచారు.
