Educational Q&A

The verse underscores karmic and ethical consequence: when one becomes enslaved by a grievously adharmic craving (here, cannibalistic violence), one turns into a threat to society and all beings, and such degeneration is presented as the inevitable fruition of a foretold curse/prophecy.

A brāhmaṇa declares that, just as the sage Śakti has said, the person in question will become addicted to human flesh and will wander the earth, terrifying living beings—marking a transformation into a roaming menace (a rakṣasa-like existence in effect).
