सोमवंशाग्रजो धीमान् भवभक्तः प्रतापवान् इक्ष्वाकोर्वंशविस्तारं पश्चाद्वक्ष्ये तपोधनाः
somavaṃśāgrajo dhīmān bhavabhaktaḥ pratāpavān ikṣvākorvaṃśavistāraṃ paścādvakṣye tapodhanāḥ
సోమవంశంలో అగ్రజుడు జ్ఞానవంతుడు, భవుడు (శివుడు) పట్ల భక్తిగలవాడు, పరాక్రమశాలియై ఉండెను. ఓ తపోధనులారా, తరువాత ఇక్ష్వాకువంశ విస్తారాన్ని కూడా నేను వివరిస్తాను.
