FAQs

By locating a celebrated region (Saketu) within Jambūdvīpa, the Purana grounds Shiva’s worship in sacred geography—tīrthas and mountains become supports for linga-sthāpanā and pilgrimage, aiding the pashu (soul) in turning toward Pati (Shiva).

Indirectly, it reflects Shaiva Siddhānta’s view that Shiva’s grace operates through ordered cosmic domains: sacred places within creation become channels where the bound pashu approaches liberation from pāśa through devotion and right orientation.

The verse primarily supports tīrtha-yātrā and linga-sthāna awareness—preparatory disciplines allied to Pāśupata orientation (seeking Shiva’s presence in sanctified locales), rather than detailing a specific mantra or pūjā step.
