Chapter 38 —
The Merit of Constructing a Temple
saṅkīrtayanti govindaṃ te vastyājyāḥ sudūrataḥ nityanaimittikair devaṃ ye yajanti janārdanam
Lord Agni (narrating Agni Purana teachings to the sage Vasiṣṭha)

Related Themes: Agni Purana 38 (pūjā-vidhi); Agni Purana Vāstu sections (house/plot defects and remedies—general internal linkage)
It distinguishes nitya (daily obligatory) and naimittika (occasion-based) rites as valid modes of worship of Janārdana, while elevating saṅkīrtana of Govinda as spiritually overriding vāstu-based avoidance rules.
It cross-links multiple domains—bhakti practice (kīrtana), ritual jurisprudence (nitya/naimittika karmas), and vāstu/auspiciousness regulations—showing how devotional theology interfaces with technical ritual and household sciences.
The verse teaches that sincere Govinda-kīrtana and proper worship of Janārdana carry purificatory power and religious merit, effectively superseding anxieties tied to dwelling-inauspiciousness and emphasizing devotion aligned with dharma.
