Related Themes: Agni Purana 33 (Vrata-niyama and purification context)
It gives a prayoga-style resolve (saṅkalpa/prārthanā) used in worship: petitioning the deity that inner faults like kāma and krodha should not abide in the practitioner from the present day for the intended observance period.
Alongside vast subjects, the Agni Purana also preserves practical liturgical language—short, functional prayer-formulas that integrate ethics (self-restraint) directly into ritual performance, showing how conduct and worship are treated as a unified discipline.
The verse frames inner purification as a prerequisite to merit-bearing worship: restraining desire and anger reduces karmic agitation (doṣa/kleśa) and supports steadiness of mind, making the vow and ritual more spiritually efficacious.
