The Glory of Rudra: The Origin of the Kapālamocana Pilgrimage Site and Rudra’s Expiatory Vow

ब्रह्मणा तु यदा सृष्टः पूर्वं रुद्रो वरानने ॥ तृतीये जन्मनि विभुः पिङ्गाक्षो नीललोहितः ॥

brahmaṇā tu yadā sṛṣṭaḥ pūrvaṃ rudro varānane || tṛtīye janmani vibhuḥ piṅgākṣo nīlalohitaḥ ||

அழகிய முகத்தையுடையவளே, பிரம்மா முதலில் ருத்ரனைப் படைத்தபோது, மூன்றாம் பிறவியில் அந்த வல்லவன் ‘பிங்காக்ஷ’ என்றும் ‘நீலலோஹித’ என்றும் வெளிப்பட்டான்.
