ये रुद्रमुपजीवन्ति कलौ वैडालिका नराः । लौल्यार्थिनः स्वशास्त्राणि करिष्यन्ति कलौ नराः । उच्छुष्मरुद्रास्ते ज्ञेया नाहं तेषु व्यवस्थितः ॥ ७१.५५ ॥

ye rudram upajīvanti kalau vaiḍālikā narāḥ | laulyārthinaḥ svaśāstrāṇi kariṣyanti kalau narāḥ | ucchuṣmarudrās te jñeyā nāhaṃ teṣu vyavasthitaḥ || 71.55 ||

கலியுகத்தில் ருத்ரனைச் சொல்லி வாழ்வாதாரம் நடத்தும் வைடாலிக (தாழ்ந்த/தந்திரமான) மனிதர்கள், பேராசையால் தங்களுக்கென ‘சாஸ்திரங்கள்’ இயற்றுவார்கள். அவர்கள் ‘உச்சுஷ்ம-ருத்ரர்கள்’ (அசுத்த இயல்புடைய ருத்ரர்கள்) என அறியப்பட வேண்டும்; நான் அவர்களிடத்தில் நிலைபெற்றவன் அல்லேன்.
