तस्य ब्रह्मा शुभां कन्यां भार्यार्थं मूर्त्तिसम्भवाम् । गौरी नाम्ना स्वयं देवी भारती तां ददौ पिता ॥ २१.४ ॥

tasya brahmā śubhāṃ kanyāṃ bhāryārthaṃ mūrttisambhavām | gaurī nāmnā svayaṃ devī bhāratī tāṃ dadau pitā || 21.4 ||

அவனுக்குத் துணைவியாக பிரம்மா, மூர்த்தியிலிருந்து பிறந்த நற்குணமுடைய மகளைக் கொடுத்தார். ‘கௌரி’ எனப் பெயருடைய அந்த தேவியை அவளுடைய தந்தை பாரதி தாமே அளித்தார்।
