Paingala Upanishad 4 — Verse 4

इन्द्रियाणि हयानाहुर्विषयांस्तेषु गोचरान्। जङ्गमानि विमानानि हृदयानि मनीषिणः॥४॥

Padapatha (Word Split)

इन्द्रियाणि । हयान् । आहुः । विषयान् । तेषु । गोचरान् । जङ्गमानि । विमानानि । हृदयानि । मनीषिणः ॥

IAST Transliteration

indriyāṇi hayān āhur viṣayāṁs teṣu gocarān | jaṅgamāni vimānāni hṛdayāni manīṣiṇaḥ ||4||

Translation

இந்திரியங்கள் குதிரைகள் எனக் கூறப்படுகின்றன; விஷயங்கள் அவற்றின் உலாவும் எல்லைகள். ஞானிகள் இதயங்களை நகரும் விமானங்கள் போல் சொல்கின்றனர்.

Academic Translation

The senses, they say, are horses; the objects (of sense) are their ranges of movement. The wise (also say) that the hearts are moving aerial cars (vimānas).
