पौंड्रको वासुदेवस्तु वाराणस्यां पुराऽभवत् । तेन श्रुतं पुराणं तु पठ्यमानं द्विजातिभिः
pauṃḍrako vāsudevastu vārāṇasyāṃ purā'bhavat | tena śrutaṃ purāṇaṃ tu paṭhyamānaṃ dvijātibhiḥ
முன்னொரு காலத்தில் பௌண்ட்ரக வாசுதேவன் வாராணசியில் வாழ்ந்தான். அங்கு இருமுறை பிறந்தோர் (த்விஜர்) ஓதிய புராணத்தை அவன் கேட்டான்।
