आहैवं पुंडरीकाक्षमपः कुरु त्वमक्षयाः । अन्यथा सर्वनाशेन जलानां मामिहाग्रतः । भक्षयिष्यत्यसौ वह्निर्वाडवो हि जनार्द्दन
āhaivaṃ puṃḍarīkākṣamapaḥ kuru tvamakṣayāḥ | anyathā sarvanāśena jalānāṃ māmihāgrataḥ | bhakṣayiṣyatyasau vahnirvāḍavo hi janārddana
அப்போது அவன் தாமரை-கண்ணனான ஜனார்தனனை நோக்கி கூறினான்— “ஆண்டவனே, இந்த நீர்களை அச்சயமாக்குவாயாக; இல்லையெனில் என் கண்முன்னே அந்த வாடவாக்னி நீர்களை முற்றிலும் அழித்து என்னையும் முழுதாக விழுங்கிவிடும்।”
