उद्भिज्जाः स्थावराः प्रोक्तास्तृणगुल्मलता दयः । अन्येऽप्येवं यथायोगमंतर्भूताः सहस्रशः
udbhijjāḥ sthāvarāḥ proktāstṛṇagulmalatā dayaḥ | anye'pyevaṃ yathāyogamaṃtarbhūtāḥ sahasraśaḥ
உத்பிஜ்ஜம் என்பது நிலைபெற்ற (ஸ்தாவர) உயிர்கள்—புல், புதர்கள், கொடிகள் முதலியவை. இதேபோல் தத்தம் தகுதிக்கேற்ப இன்னும் ஆயிரக்கணக்கான வடிவங்கள் சேர்க்கப்பட்டுள்ளன।
