पवित्रास्तं गजं द्रष्टुं भावितेनांतरात्मना । यत्रैकत्र स्थिता विप्रास्तत्र तीर्थं महोदयम् । संगमेश्वरसंज्ञं तु पूर्वं सर्वत्र विश्रुतम्
pavitrāstaṃ gajaṃ draṣṭuṃ bhāvitenāṃtarātmanā | yatraikatra sthitā viprāstatra tīrthaṃ mahodayam | saṃgameśvarasaṃjñaṃ tu pūrvaṃ sarvatra viśrutam
உள்ளம் தூய்மையடைந்து, மனம் பக்தியால் நிறைந்து, அந்த யானையைத் தரிசிக்க விரும்பி பிராமணர்கள் ஒரே இடத்தில் தங்கிய அந்த இடமே ‘மஹோதய’ தீர்த்தம்; அது முன்பு எங்கும் ‘சங்கமேஸ்வர’ என்ற பெயரால் புகழ்பெற்றது.
