bhagavānuvāca | eṣa kāmo mayā dagdhaḥ krodhena surasattamāḥ | tasmādanaṃga evaiṣa prajāsu pracariṣyati | tadvīryastatprabhāvaśca vinā dehaṃ bhaviṣyati
Śiva (Bhagavān)
Tirtha: Prabhāsa-kṣetra
Type: kshetra
Scene: Śiva speaks authoritatively; behind him, a faint, translucent figure of Kāma without a body—suggested by a glowing outline, bow and floral arrows appearing as pure light—symbolizing Anaṅga.
Desire is not merely physical; it can persist as subtle force—hence it must be governed by dharma rather than denied blindly.
Prabhāsakṣetra, where Śiva’s pronouncement becomes part of the kṣetra’s celebrated sacred history.
None; the verse records Śiva’s doctrinal resolution about Kāma’s bodiless state.
