स्कांदं नाम पुराणं तदेकाशीति निगद्यते । सहस्राणि शतं चैकमिति मर्त्येषु पठ्यते
skāṃdaṃ nāma purāṇaṃ tadekāśīti nigadyate | sahasrāṇi śataṃ caikamiti martyeṣu paṭhyate
‘ஸ்காந்த’ எனப்படும் அந்தப் புராணம் எண்பத்தொன்று ஆயிரம் (சுலோகங்கள்) எனக் கூறப்படுகிறது; ஆனால் மனிதர்களிடையே அது ‘ஒரு இலட்சத்து ஒரு ஆயிரம்’ எனப் பாராயணம் செய்யப்படுகிறது.
