यत्राह नारदो धर्मान्बृहत्कल्पाश्रयांस्त्विह । पञ्चविंशत्सहस्राणि नारदीयं तदुच्यते
yatrāha nārado dharmānbṛhatkalpāśrayāṃstviha | pañcaviṃśatsahasrāṇi nāradīyaṃ taducyate
இங்கே நாரதர் ப்ருஹத்-கல்பத்தை ஆதாரமாகக் கொண்ட தர்மங்களை உரைத்த புராணம் ‘நாரதீயம்’ எனப்படுகிறது; அது இருபத்தைந்து ஆயிரம் (சுலோகங்கள்) கொண்டது.
