caturviṃśatisāhasraṃ nānā vṛttāntasaṃyutam | dharmārthakāmamokṣaiśca sādhuvṛttasamanvitam

இதில் இருபத்துநான்கு ஆயிரம் செய்யுள்கள் உள்ளன என்றும், பலவகை நிகழ்வுகளால் நிறைந்தது என்றும் கூறப்படுகிறது. தர்மம், அர்த்தம், காமம், மோக்ஷம் ஆகிய உபதேசங்களும், சாது நெறியும் இதில் இணைந்துள்ளன.
