अथ दृष्ट्वा महादेवः सतीं प्राणैर्विना स्थिताम् । अवमानात्तथाऽत्मानं त्यक्त्वा मत्वा कपालिनम्
atha dṛṣṭvā mahādevaḥ satīṃ prāṇairvinā sthitām | avamānāttathā'tmānaṃ tyaktvā matvā kapālinam
அப்போது மகாதேவன் சதியை உயிர்மூச்சற்ற நிலையில் கிடப்பதைக் கண்டு, அவமானத்தை உள்ளத்தில் ஏற்று, தன்னை கபாலதாரி என எண்ணி உலகியலான தன்னம்பிக்கையையும் மரியாதையையும் துறந்தான்।
