ईश्वर उवाच अथ मेरोर्महादेवि अष्टशृंगस्य सुव्रते । पूजाविधानमंत्रांस्ते कथयामि समासतः
īśvara uvāca atha merormahādevi aṣṭaśṛṃgasya suvrate | pūjāvidhānamaṃtrāṃste kathayāmi samāsataḥ
ஈஸ்வரன் கூறினான்—மகாதேவி, சுவ்ரதே! இப்போது மேருவின் அஷ்டஶ்ருங்க (எட்டு சிகர) ரூபத்திற்கான பூஜை முறையும் மந்திரங்களையும் உனக்கு சுருக்கமாக உரைக்கிறேன்।
