ततः स्वजानुमात्रेण संप्राप्तं पृथिवीतले । ततो विष्णुपदी गंगा प्रसिद्धिमगमत्क्षितौ
tataḥ svajānumātreṇa saṃprāptaṃ pṛthivītale | tato viṣṇupadī gaṃgā prasiddhimagamatkṣitau
பின்னர் அவர் தம் முழங்கால் அளவிற்குள் இறங்கி, பூமித்தளத்தை அடைந்தது. அதனால் கங்கை பூமியில் ‘விஷ்ணுபதி’—விஷ்ணுவின் பாதத்தில் பிறந்த நதி—என்று புகழ்பெற்றது.
