अशीतिश्च सहस्राणि पूर्वपश्चायतं स्मृतम् । उत्तरे हिमवानस्ति क्षीरोदो दक्षिणे स्मृतः
aśītiśca sahasrāṇi pūrvapaścāyataṃ smṛtam | uttare himavānasti kṣīrodo dakṣiṇe smṛtaḥ
கிழக்கிலிருந்து மேற்குவரை அதன் விரிவு எண்பதாயிரம் (யோஜனைகள்) என்று கூறப்படுகிறது. வடக்கில் ஹிமவான் உள்ளது; தெற்கில் க்ஷீரோத (கடல்) என்று நினைக்கப்படுகிறது.
