Skanda Purana — Prabhasa Khanda, Shloka 8
उक्त्वा बाढमिति ब्रह्मा ततः सृष्टौ मनो दधे । ससर्ज मानसात्सद्यः सनकाद्यान्कुमारकान् । उवाच वचनं ब्रह्मा प्रजाः सृजत पुत्रकाः
uktvā bāḍhamiti brahmā tataḥ sṛṣṭau mano dadhe | sasarja mānasātsadyaḥ sanakādyānkumārakān | uvāca vacanaṃ brahmā prajāḥ sṛjata putrakāḥ
“அப்படியே” என்று கூறி பிரம்மா படைப்பில் மனத்தை வைத்தார். தமது மனத்திலிருந்து உடனே சனக முதலிய குமாரர்களை உருவாக்கி, “மகன்களே, உயிர்களைப் படையுங்கள்” என்றார்।
